With a view to bring higher education within the reach of rural poor particularly girls, an educational society named Durjan Sal Shiksha Samiti was formed and registered in 2004 with Dr. Rajeshwar Singh Chauhan as Manager/Secretary. Th. Durjan Sal Singh Chauhan who lived during 1848-1930 period was not very educated as is those days particularly in rural and feudal society hardly any body studied beyond primary level. However Th.Durjan Sal Singh Chauhan ignited the light of education in the family and the village by encouraging and liberally financing higher education of his grandsons . He sent his grandsons to Banaras Hindu University and Lucknow University for higher and postgraduate education and law degree. The path of education shown by him continues to inspire from generation to generation. Hence it was a fitting tribute to name the society after his name.Ram Singh Mahavidyalya, Nagla Sikandar, Distt. Firozabad was established in the year 2005 by Dr.Rajeshwar Singh Chauhan Joint Director (Horticulture) Retd. in the memory of his father Late Th.Ram Singh Chauhan (1910-1963). Th.Ram Singh Chauhan was a very simple person but very keen to educate his sons despite difficult times and gladly sacrificed his personal comforts for the sake of education of his family members. It was because of his loving support and sacrifice that Dr.Rajeshwar Singh Chauhan could pursue his higher studies. The establishment of the college has enabled the rural poor of economically and socially deprived sections of the society to achieve higher education. Girls have particularly been benefited from the college. The spread of the higher education among the rural masses will be key to development, alleviation of poverty, injustice and ignorance. To further widen the scope of education it is intended to create facility for professional education in rural area so that the rate of unemployment could be scaled down.
